So, i just finished reading fallen by Lauren Kate for the second time now. I did buy it when it first came out but i repurchased when i got all the other books in hardback because it was driving me crazy! For those of you that dont know this book is about a girl called luce who gets blamed for the death of trevor and gets sent to a reform school, here she meets new people, some she likes more than others. She then discovers their hidden secret (or part of it anyway) and then starts being generally nosy and confused about her past. This book has the romance aspect to it but if you dont like love triangles steer clear of this one! Just by looking at the cover you can see that this is a supernatural young adult book, it is actually for 12+ but this could just be an easy read for somebody like myself who is 18 or if you just want to bring yourself out of a reading slump. The cover is beautiful, as is the spine and it will look gorgeous on any bookshelf. There are 2 things that I didn't particularly like about this book either time i read it. The first one being that it is very slow in the first two thirds which makes it quite hard to get into, but if you get to the end where the plot twist is you will want to read the second book. The second one being the constant repetition of the word ' grimacing '. Luce must have grimaced atleast every 5 pages which actually really annoys me but I bet will make a great uni drinking game! This also carries on to the second book torment which I am currently rereading. I think I gave this a 4/5 on goodreads but that was right after reading the plot twist. Now that I have thought about it i would probably give this a 3 just because it is so slow and I like fast paced books. 📖📚
Ha! I'm almost 40 and this is one of my fav series so yes, definitely for YA fans of all ages ;) Nice to see a review of this series, haven't thought of it in awhile! I agree that the first book starts a little slow, I remember I almost stopped reading it but so glad that I didn't. Heard awhile back that they were optioning Fallen for a movie, heard any recent news on that? Just curious :)
ReplyDeleteI heard that it is already out in america but it flopped :L something about casting the wrong people for the roles that made the characters less authentic i think because i didn't even get a whiff of it in the UK, not even a trailer which is a shame because it could have made a really good film. :)
